District Attorney Phil Cline announces the 12th annual Victims' of
Homicide Memorial Quilt Unveiling Ceremony, held in conjunction with
National Victims' Rights Week, which will be on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at 6:00
p.m., at the Holiday Inn, 9000 W. Airport Drive, in Visalia.
Every year, family and loved ones who have lost a family member through
homicide or as a result of a drunk driving incident, submit a quilt
square commemorating the deceased person's life. The squares are crafted
together to form a memorial quilt, which serves as a tangible and moving
memorial to the lives lost. The memorial quilt is unveiled each year
during Victims Rights Week in a special program which includes music,
testimonials, and words of comfort from various public officials.
Phil Cline states: "I ask that during National Crime Victims' Rights
week, you take time to remember or reach out to someone you know who was
a victim of a crime. Crime leaves scars, sometimes they are visible, and
sometimes they are hidden. It is with reverence for the law and for
crime victims that your Tulare District Attorney's Office serves you and
it is my deepest hope that justice is served and the first step of
healing has begun for every victim of crime."
District Attorney Phil Cline extends an invitation to the public to
spend an evening dedicated to the support and compassion for those whose
lives have been forever changed by violence and tragedy.
