Tulare Woman Sentenced for Welfare Fraud


The Honorable Judge Ronn M. Couillard sentenced 41-year-old Tammy Lynette Ainsworth, of Tulare, to 60 days in county jail and five years formal probation for illegally obtaining $4,836.00 through fraud. On May 1, 2012, Tammy Ainsworth pled no contest to one count of felony Welfare Fraud which arose from her receipt of aid by misrepresentation.

An investigation revealed that between June 16, 2009 and December 2, 2009, Tammy Ainsworth made false statements to receive undue compensation and fraudulently obtained $4,836.00 in welfare aid.

As a condition of her probation, the defendant is required to pay full restitution to the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency. If the defendant fails to pay, the Judge may sentence her to additional time in custody.

This case was investigated by District Attorney Investigator Alan Hunsaker, and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorneys Kathy McKinzie and Layli Caborn.
