Man Receives Prison Sentence for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Criminal Threats

On September 24, 2011, Roger David, age 46 of Visalia, was arrested by the Tulare County Sheriff's Department for assaulting the victim with a knife and threatening to kill her while a witness was present. During the investigation, a sawed off shotgun was found in a laundry basket in the master bedroom.

December, 14 2011, a jury trial concluded and Roger David was found guilty of one count of assault with a knife, one count of criminal threats, one count of possession of a short barreled shotgun, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and two counts of misdemeanor child endangerment. Additionally, the special allegation that Roger David was out of custody on bail or his own recognizance at the time of the crimes, was found to be true.

Roger David also had a pending possession of a stolen vehicle case, therefore, on January 23, 2012, the Honorable Judge Brett Alldredge sentenced Roger David to serve a total term of 6 years and 4 months in state prison.

This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Ruth McKee. It was investigated by Deputy Richard Morley of the Tulare County Sheriff's Department and Gregg White of the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigations.
