Today, the Honorable Judge James Hollman sentenced Griselda Guerrero,
36, to 270 days local custody, and five years formal probation.
Guerrero, from Tipton, had previously pled no contest to one count of
Welfare Fraud and one count of Perjury, both felonies arising from her
receipt of aid by misrepresentation.
Investigation uncovered that, between October 2007 and December 2009,
the defendant fraudulently received cash aid and food stamps for herself
and her three children. Guerrero failed to report that the absent parent
was actually in the home, and that he was working. Guerrero was ordered
to pay back $24,650 in restitution to the Tulare County Health and Human
Services Agency.
This case was investigated by Gloria Garza of the Tulare County District
Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigations, and prosecuted by Deputy
District Attorney Marisa Maclennan.
