On June 9, 2010, Honorable Judge Gary Paden sentenced Sureno gang member
Omar Galeana, age 25, of Visalia to 40 years and 8 months in state
prison. Omar Galeana previously pled to manslaughter and three counts of
attempted murder along with allegations that the crimes were committed
for the benefit of a criminal street gang.
The crime occurred in Visalia on July 16, 2006 in the evening hours.
Omar Galeana was the driver in a drive-by shooting of rival gang members
who were playing basketball outside their home. Victim Xavier Feliscian,
age 18, was shot in the back of the head as he tried to run inside his
house during the gunfire. He later died. No one else was injured.
The shooter, Fidel Rosales, age 19, of Farmersville, proceeded to trial
on this case and was convicted by a jury of first-degree murder, along
with the gun and gang special allegations. Fidel Rosales is set to be
sentenced on August 5, 2010. It is expected that Fidel Rosales will
receive a sentence of life without the possibility of parole.
This case was investigated by Sergeant Gary Hunt of the Tulare County
Sheriff’s Department. Investigators Domingo Flores and Eric Velasquez of
the District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation. Deputy
District Attorney Todd Zocchi prosecuted this case.
