On March 30, 2010, Superior Court Judge James Hollman sentenced
60-year-old Amory Fryer of Porterville to 25 years to life in state
prison. On February 9, 2010, a Tulare County jury convicted Fryer of
multiple counts of lewd acts upon a child for the molestation of two
young female family members ages 11 and 13. Because Fryer was convicted
of enumerated sex offenses against more than one victim, the Judge was
able to sentence him to life in prison under California’s “One Strike”
law.
The molestations began in 2002 and continued through 2005 in the city of
Porterville.
In addition to the prison sentence, the Court ordered the defendant to
submit to AIDS testing pursuant to Penal Code section 1202.1, and if
ever released from prison, Fryer must register as a sex offender
pursuant to Penal Code section 290.
This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Phil Esbenshade and
investigated by Porterville Police Detective Jeff Dowling and District
Attorney Investigator Gregg White.
