On February 10, 2010, Tulare County Superior Court Judge Gerald Sevier
sentenced 35-year-old Gordon Shane Heideman of Visalia to three years in
state prison for a felony driving under the influence conviction. The
current case was a felony due to the defendant’s prior convictions for
driving under the influence. The defendant pled no contest to the
charges on October 19, 2009.
Heideman was arrested by the Visalia Police Department on August 8,
2009. On that date, officers were called to investigate allegations that
the defendant was involved in an argument with an acquaintance. The
investigation revealed the defendant was driving under the influence.
Heideman had been previously convicted of driving under the influence in
February of 2007, July of 2008, and May of 2009, in which the defendant
was also convicted of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer
as well as felony DUI causing injury.
This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Mike Moberly of the
Felony DUI unit. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from
the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration.
