Rodolfo Martinez of Visalia was sentenced for the June 9, 2008, murder of his girlfriend of about 11 years, Avelina Parreira. Sentencing took place January 5, 2010. The 46-year-old defendant was sentenced to 26 years to life for the murder. Judge Patrick O'hara sentenced the Defendant. At sentencing several family members gave victim impact statements detailing the loss they will have to live with for the rest of their lives.
