On December 17, 2009, Tulare County Superior Court Judge Gary Paden
imposed a prison sentence of 5 years on 28-year-old Scott Alan Taylor of
Visalia for transportation of methamphetamine, possession for sale of
methamphetamine with gun allegations, possession of a controlled
substance with a firearm, possession of a silencer, and prohibited
interception of public safety communications.
The defendant entered a no contest plea and admitted the special
allegations in court on November 19, 2009.
On July 16, 2009, detectives with the Visalia Police Department executed
a search warrant at Taylor’s residence in Visalia. Taylor was found near
his residence riding on a bicycle with a loaded 9mm handgun in one
pocket and over 4 grams of methamphetamine in the other. A search of
Taylor’s residence revealed more methamphetamine, two rifles, a shotgun,
two police scanners, security cameras, and two makeshift silencers.
Detectives also located a magazine opened to pages providing
instructions on how to make a silencer.
This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Matt Darby and
investigated by Detective Jeremy Ediger and Detective Daniel Ford of the
Visalia Police Department.
