On July 17, 2009, Tulare County Superior Court Judge Joseph Kalashian imposed a 30-year state prison sentence on 32-year old Luis Orozco of Tulare for one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child and seven felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 years of age.

The sexual abuse began in 2006 and continued over a two-year period. In addition to the imposed prison term, Orozco was also ordered to register as a sex offender and submit to HIV testing. All charges count as “Strike” offenses, and Orozco will be required to serve 85% of the imposed term under California law.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Phil Esbenshade and investigated by Detective Brian Haney of the Tulare Police Department.
