In honor of Law Day, Phil Cline, District Attorney, extends an
invitation to the citizens of Tulare County to attend the Law Day
Ceremonies sponsored by the Tulare County Bar Association, Friday, May
1, 2009. The ceremonies will be held in Department 6 of the Superior
Court at 8:30 a.m. Immediately thereafter, the District Attorney’s
Office will hold their annual Open House.
During the Law Day observance, Christopher Lange will be presented with
the 2009 District Attorney Justice Award. Mr. Lange and his family’s
cattle and farming operations had been victimized several times in past
years. Mr. Lange’s dedication to and support of the Rural Crime
Prevention Task Force and ACTION unit has increased countywide
involvement by other farmers and ranchers, and has helped law
enforcement catch criminals who target agricultural businesses that are
so vital to our community. The Justice Award is presented each year to a
person whose conduct has demonstrated continued faith, support, and
courage in the American Justice System. Past recipients have included
witnesses who overcame severe disabilities to present their testimony, a
Public Defender who represented indigent clients vigorously and with
integrity, and child victims who demonstrated overwhelming courage in
testifying against the murderer of their mother and grandmother.
Each year in honor of Law Day, the District Attorney’s office welcomes
the public to an Open House at the Main Office immediately after the
ceremony. The Main Office is located on the second floor of the
Courthouse at Room 224. Guided tours and light refreshments will be
offered.
