ANTHONY LOPEZ RECEIVES 12 YEARS IN PRISON FOR HIS CRIMES


On August 13, 2007, Tulare County Superior Court Judge Ronn Couillard imposed a prison sentence of 12 years on 47 year old Anthony Lopez of Porterville. On April 5, 2007, a jury brought back guilty verdicts as charged. The defendant was found guilty of 4 Counts of felony forcible oral copulation on a minor. The defendant had sexually assaulted the victim for a 2 year time period from June 2002 through May 2004.

Defendant will serve 85% of his prison sentence. Defendant was found guilty of 4 separate strike offenses and will be subject to the “Three Strikes” law if he commits another felony. He was also ordered to pay an $8,000 restitution fine, to register as a sex offender under Penal Code section 290, to submit to AIDS testing under Penal Code section 1202.1, and prohibited from visiting any child under 18 years of age under Penal Code section 1202.05.

This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Brenda Broker, and investigated by Detective Rose Olmos of the Porterville Police Department.
