| FRAUDULENT FIRE RESTORATION BUSINESS IN TULARE COUNTY | |
|
Acting on a complaint from a Visalia resident, Investigators discovered that the suspect failed to repair a Visalia home after a two year period. The investigation led law enforcement and the Contractor’s State License Board to at least three other victims of this deception. Investigators discovered that the suspect Cabrera was not a licensed contractor and had a prior revocation with the CSLB. The revocation of Central Valley Restoration stemmed from a history of departing from building standards, contract violations, payment schedule violations, exceeding contract amounts, and the departure from plans or specifications. Investigators served a search warrant at Cabrera’s home office today, located on North Quincy Street in Visalia and discovered evidence of an elaborate effort to deceive the public with the use of documents that appeared legitimate for the various business names, business cards, and several bank accounts. For these offenses the suspect Cabrera was taken into custody for diversion of construction funds, burglary, false pretenses, unlicensed contracting and the use of another contractors license. Persons affected by this development are cautioned to determine their rights and to make necessary arrangements to find qualified and licensed contractors to finish any projects.
