MAN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS TO LIFE FOR MURDER OF INFANT

On August 23, 2006, the Honorable Judge Gary Paden sentenced Josue Rosas, age 23, to 15 years to Life in Prison for the Murder of a Five Month old Infant. Rosas, who resided in Farmersville in February of 2005, called Police authorities when his 5 month old baby girl was unresponsive. Upon arriving at the hospital the infant was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy was conducted and it was determined the infant suffered blunt force trauma to her chest causing internal bleeding and her eventual death.

Members of the Farmersville Police Department investigated the case and arrested Defendant Josue Rosas. During his interview with FPD, Rosas admitted to striking his child in the stomach and rib area; however, he informed the police that he waited until the child stopped breathing to contact the authorities.

Rosas plead to Second Degree Murder in June of 2006 before Judge Paden.

The case was prosecuted by Supervising Deputy District Attorney Timothy Ward of the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office and investigated by Sgt. Mike Marquez of the Farmersville Police.
