RESTORATION BUSINESS VIOLATES STATE LAWS

On Thursday morning, June 8, 2006 a combined team of investigators from the Contractors State Licensing Board and the Tulare County District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigations served search warrants on locations in Fresno and Tulare Counties. The officers took possession of numerous records belonging to a business known as All Power Restoration. Representatives of the company admitted numerous violations of state law, including conducting business without a contracting license and unlawfully using the license of a licensee.

All Power Restoration specializes in restoration of properties damaged or destroyed by fires. Company representatives monitor emergency fire calls and offer their unlicensed construction services to property owners, insurance companies and lenders. It is estimated that over $10 million of unfinished projects located from Sacramento to Southern California will be interrupted, since All Power Restoration may be unable to complete their obligations.

Persons affected by this development are cautioned to determine their rights and to make necessary arrangements to find qualified and licensed contractors and subs to finish the projects involved. For more information, contact Tulare County DA Investigator Mark Lopez, (559) 733-6600, ext. 203, or call Contractors State License Board, (800) 321-2752.

Questions from members of the press please refer to Carol Turner, Assist. District Attorney of Tulare County, (559) 733-6609.
