Acting on complaints of unlicensed contractors working in Tulare County, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Special Investigations Bureau conducted an undercover, unlicensed and uninsured contractor’s sting. The sting was conducted at a residence provided by Armstrong Management Company, located on Laspina Avenue in Tulare. Undercover investigators sought and located unlicensed contractors from local newspapers, local classified and advertisements in hardware stores. Investigators contacted fifteen businesses throughout the county and made appointments for simple landscaping, fencing, cement work and painting.

During the undercover sting twelve businesses arrived and were discovered to be unlicensed and uninsured. Those individuals were detained, identified and issued notices to appear in Tulare Municipal Court for contracting without a license, illegal advertising and failure to provide Workers Compensation Insurance. All suspects were given a court date of August 10, 2005.

The Tulare County District Attorney Bureau of Investigation is requesting that any consumers with complaints about unlicensed contractors contact the Contractor’s State Licensing Board at 1-800-321-CSLB or the Consumer Fraud number at the TCDA’s office at 733-6600.
