The
Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team was established in 1993 as a
joint project with the Tulare County Sheriff's Office. The Major
Narcotics Program came on line in 1995 to work in conjunction with the
INET Program. The Major Narcotics Vendors Program is a true vertical
prosecution program targeting major retailers, wholesalers, and lab
operators in
Tulare
County.
The INET Program is a multi-agency unit that includes a vertical
prosecutor targeting mid-level retailers in Tulare County. Experienced
and trained prosecutors are assigned to both these programs. Caseloads
are reduced in order to provide the attorneys with the ability to focus
maximum attention on program cases. This intense level of concentration
yields increased convictions and sentences.
Several times a year, major narcotics attorneys conduct training for law
enforcement officers in Tulare County regarding issues such as: asset
forfeiture, search warrants, and other legal updates relating to
criminal narcotics cases.
Major Narcotics attorneys have also developed special programs and
skills which aid in the prosecution of serious narcotic offenders. The
program allows special prosecutors to focus their attention on serious
cases from the filing of the case to the sentencing of the defendant.
Special emphasis is placed on new and innovative special allegations
that are charged when the case is filed, such as special arming
allegations ("use a gun, go to prison"). These special allegations
ensure drug dealers are dealt swift justice.
A Methamphetamine Prosecutor was created in 2001 to deal with the growing
problem of methamphetamine in Tulare County. Read more
