2013 Justice run
Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward will host the 3nd Annual Justice Run: 5k race/ 1 mile walk at Mooney Grove Park on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Family Services of Tulare County and the Central California Family Crisis Center, the two primary organizations that provide shelter and other services to victims of domestic violence and their children. The 2012 Justice Run welcomed over 400participants and earned proceeds of $12,000. Proceeds fund housing and supportive services for victims and their families. These services include emergency assistance (transportation, food, etc.) counseling and long-term housing support. There will be donation bins at the Justice Run for collection of unopened toiletry items (hotel sized shampoo, lotion and soap) which are frequently needed as they are provided to those seeking shelter.

“Domestic violence is an assault against the very fabric of our society, the family. It has far-reaching and devastating effects resulting in mental and physical trauma to women and children that seriously affect our community and schools. These affects have led me to create an enhanced prosecution team that will triple the number the number of prosecutors who focus exclusively on prosecuting those who would attempt to harm our families and our way of life. The office of the District Attorney is taking a greater stand against domestic violence. Please join me in standing up against domestic violence by lending your support,” states District Attorney Tim Ward.

If you work for a Tulare County Law Enforcement Agency or Fire Department you are invited to participate in the Justice Run as a competition between agencies. The first team member who crosses the finish line will receive a plaque for their agency to commemorate the event.

Partner agencies will have informational booth displays at the park and the District Attorney’s Office will provide information on their Victim/Witness Assistance Program.

Participants can register now through race-day. Registration costs $25 per person for those who register before September 27th, and includes an event “tech” shirt and goody bag. Registration is $30 after September 27th. Late registrations may not receive a shirt.
